Crystal “Crys” Staffney

Crys Staffney brings almost 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector to Detroit Food Academy, having held roles in development, strategic partnerships, operations, and program direction. A Detroit native, Crys is passionate about empowering the city’s youth and helping them realize their potential to thrive as leaders. She is dedicated to equipping them with the resources and encouragement they need to succeed and make an impact.

Crys is also the Founder & CEO of From Keisha’s Heart to Yours, a nonprofit she established in memory of her sister, Keisha, to advocate for heart health and promote healthier lifestyles. Family means everything to Crys; she enjoys hosting gatherings, cheering on her son as he excels in both academics and sports, and, whenever they can, sharing their passion for roller skating. She holds a BA in Media Arts & Studies and an MA in Public Relations & Organizational Communication from Wayne State University, bringing both her heart and expertise to Detroit Food Academy’s mission of empowering Detroit’s youth to lead healthier, impactful lives.
